A guaranteed original U.S. 'window card' from 1965 for Robert Wise's incredible family musical "The Sound of Music", starring Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Charmian Carr, Heather Menzies, Angela Cartwright, and Eleanor Parker.

Based upon the hit Broadway play by Rodgers and Hammerstein (which was itself based upon real-life Maria von Trapp's 1949 memoir, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers), this wonderful movie was nominated for an incredible ten Academy Awards, winning five, including the coveted Best Picture and Best Director awards!

The soundtrack album is one of the most successful of all time, with over 20 million copies sold to date!

This wonderful piece is a fantastic example of a 'window card', a long lost movie poster format that, as its name suggests, was placed in the window of movie theaters, shops and barbers around town at the time of showing.

As you can see from our photos, it is in really nice condition, with only minor staining in the bottom right hand corner that in no way distracts from the wonderful Howard Terpning artwork. It will look incredible framed and on display!

By the way, apparently Julie Andrews was the only real contender for the role of Maria. So, not such a problem after all!
